​​ What you need to know about Carbon Peeling

A unique combination of a carbon mask and gentle yet effective laser technology. Its purpose is to improve skin quality through surface exfoliation. Afterwards I help you make the most of your me-time with a relaxing facial massage. Thanks to this top-quality procedure, fresh, firm, radiant and youthful skin is no longer just a dream.

The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser I use holds medical CE certification. A fine-grained carbon powder, used exclusively for this purpose, is applied to the face. The skin goes through rejuvenation processes while the carbon powder penetrates the pores with the help of the laser's heating energy. During the treatment, carried out with a special handpiece, the black carbon particles absorb the laser light and 'burst' out of the pores together with the oil that has accumulated in them and the dead skin cells on the surface, cleaning the pores out.

Although it is called a peel, unlike a chemical peel it works with heat rather than acids. It cleanses, exfoliates and rejuvenates. It is excellent for treating smaller pigmentation spots and imperfections and for improving skin texture; the skin ends up healthy, smooth and rested. It removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin velvety to the touch.

​​ How the treatment works

A course of 3–4 sessions is recommended, with 1 treatment per week. After that it is worth reinforcing the result with maintenance treatments every 2–3 months.
Treatment time: 30–45 minutes per session.

1. Going through what you need to know about the treatment; I answer your questions.
2. Facial cleansing.
3. The carbon mask goes on.
4. Laser facial treatment; on more sensitive areas you may feel a mild, warm, „prickling” sensation.
5. Removing the remains of the carbon gel.
6. Soothing mask, relaxation.
7. A refreshing or relaxing facial massage — whichever you need.

​​ When treatment is not possible

In the case of illness, fever or active herpes, let us arrange a new appointment. If you have a chronic condition, take medication or have allergies, tell me, consult your doctor and ask for the list of photosensitizing medicines.

The treatment can be carried out safely 10 days after a Dermapen treatment, 2 weeks after a course of antibiotics, and one month after botox, hyaluronic acid, acid deep peels or other aesthetic procedures. Only intact skin can be treated; in the case of an injury or sunburn we will find a new appointment. If there is any skin lesion or a large number of moles in the area, let me know and send a photo.

Treatment can begin if every one of the following is true for you:

• I have not sunbathed, used a tanning bed, or burned my skin in the 2 weeks before treatment.
• I am not pregnant and not breastfeeding.
• I have no inflammation in my body and no fever.
• I have not had retinoid therapy in the past six months, am not currently using retinol, and do not use any skin-thinning product.
• I am not unusually photosensitive and do not take medicines that cause photosensitivity.
• I do not have HIV/AIDS.
• I do not have a bleeding disorder and do not take blood thinners.
• I do not have any of the following health conditions: severe diabetes, very high blood pressure, circulatory disorders, skin diseases, cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, epilepsy, heart failure, lupus, autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis.
• I have not had chemotherapy or radiotherapy in the past 5 years.
• I have not waxed or epilated the area to be treated in any way in the 2 weeks before treatment.
• I have no pacemaker, piercing or metal in the area to be treated.
• I have no herpes, injury, skin condition or open wound in the area to be treated.
• I do not have severe rosacea.
• I do not have hypopigmentation.

​​ What to do after the treatment

The treatment is completely safe, risk-free and non-invasive, with no recovery time and no pain. Mild redness may occur, which passes within a few hours; on sensitive skin, redness may last 1–3 days.

The result is noticeable immediately, but the full effect develops after 5–7 days. As part of the aftercare you need to keep your skin moisturized, as it may be dry for a few days and some peeling can occur. For 1 month after the treatment, tanning beds and sunbathing are NOT permitted; for a few days, avoid intense exercise, bathing, saunas and exfoliating treatments. If the area may be exposed to the sun, only for short periods, and use SPF 50 sunscreen during the course of treatment and for 1 month afterwards. Avoid using retinol products. Do not wear makeup for 1 day after the treatment.
